This article walks through the process of setting up or claiming Yelp profiles.
Navigate to → business.yelp.com
- Click "Verify My Free Listing" at the top right corner.
- Enter your business name.
- View results to see if there is already a listing for the location.
If there is no listing...
- Click "Add a Business with this Name" from the drop down box after typing in the name.
- Add an email address to be associated with your Yelp account → then click "Next."
- * This will be your login email.
- Enter the phone number for the location → then click "Next."
- Enter your website address (use the URL for the specific location page, if available) → then click "Next."
- Enter your business category → then input your address on the next page.
- At the bottom it will ask how many locations you have.
- If there are more than 9, it is recommended to select "1-9 locations" AND then create a second email then repeat the steps above for the next set.
- ** If you select "10+ locations" Yelp will contact you and try to upsell you on their services, and they are VERY persistent.
- ** If you choose not to use their premium services, you’ll still be limited to 9 locations and will have to create additional emails anyways.
- On the next page → finish creating your account by putting your name in the fields and creating a password.
- On the next page → you’ll be asked to verify with a phone call or text to the phone number you entered, or through the email you provided.
- Once you have access to the page, click "business information" from the menu on the right.
- Input the relevant information.
- Add photos for your location from the "Photos" tab.
- To add additional locations: click the name of the location on the left menu to open a drop down box → then select "Add New Location."
- You’ll search for a location the same way as you did in previous steps → then repeat the rest of the steps to claim it.
If there is a listing, but it is "Unclaimed"...
- Click the business and follow the steps listed above, making sure the information is correct as you go through.
- When you get to the claim step, you’ll have to attempt to verify with the email domain they have listed (x@yourstorage.com), or with a phone number they already have listed.
- If any of this information doesn’t match, you can request to update the information directly from the listing page, but it may take a few days for the changes to take effect.
- Once they do go through, you can continue the claim process with the updated information.
If there a listing, and it’s already "Claimed"...
- This happens at times, usually if your facility came from a previous company.
- If they are unwilling or unable to transfer ownership to you, there’s a claim page you can fill out. Follow the link below:
- Use the above link to submit the information they ask for.
- It may take up to a week before you hear back, and there may be an outstanding balance on the account (if the previous location owners used Yelp’s premium services) and you’ll have to provide documentation of the transfer of ownership.
