How to Set Up Your Google Workspace SMTP Server in a Few Easy Steps

The following steps will guide you through the setup process to establish the Google Workspace SMTP server,

Please note that the following details are of a generic nature regarding the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP). In the event that instructions contain the term "@gmail.com," kindly substitute it with the domain name of the email service provider.

  1. Log in to your Google Workspace account.
  2. Go to the Admin Console by clicking on the grid icon in the top right corner of the page.
  3. In the Admin Console, click on the "Apps" icon, and then click on "G Suite."
  4. Next, click on "Gmail" and then select "Advanced settings."
  5. Scroll down to the "SMTP relay service" section and click on the "Add setting" button.
  6. In the "Add SMTP relay service" dialog box, enter the following information:
    • Description: A name for the SMTP service
    • Name: smtp.gmail.com
    • Port: 465 (SSL) or 587 (TLS)
    • Encryption: TLS/SSL based on your mail client/website SMTP plugin
  7. Click on "Save" to save your settings.

Once you have set up your SMTP server, you will need to configure your email client or application to use it. Here are the settings you will need:

  • SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com
  • Port: 465 (SSL) or 587 (TLS)
